Snowy mountain elopement in telluride, colorado

If there’s one thing you gotta know about Chuck and me, it’s that we love hitting the slopes. One of the biggest reasons we chose to move to Colorado Springs, is that there are an endless variety of outdoor activities surrounding us: including snowboarding. We were honestly stoked when Abby and Griffin reached out to book us for their snowy mountain elopement in Telluride, Colorado.

A Snowy Telluride Elopement

Abby and Griffin are college sweethearts who could not wait to tie the knot. It’s always such a surreal moment to witness a couple’s vision come to life on their wedding day. When we were in the beginning stages of chatting about Abby and Griffin’s Colorado mountain elopement, their biggest priority was to be intentional about their time together. After spending over 7 years together, adventuring to many places as a couple, the most natural thing for them was deciding to have an intimate elopement in the mountains. Although they will bet having a larger celebration and ceremony with family in April, this was exactly what they imagined for their day.

One of the best parts of eloping in Colorado is just how easy it is to do. Unlike other states, Colorado is a self-solemnizing state! That’s right, you don’t need a witness to marry your person! For couples like Abby and Griffin who value the intimacy of an elopement, Colorado is a great elopement destination. With the mountains as their witnesses, Abby and Griffin exchanged private vows tucked away in blankets of snow. There were so many moments throughout their ceremony that I couldn’t help but to think, “Wow. God really created all of this beauty.”

After Abby and Griffin officially tied the knot, we headed out on an adventure through the mountains. We hiked through the deep snow, stopping along the way for portraits among the pines and snowy mountains. Abby’s lace gown paired with a fluffy faux-fur shawl added the most beautiful elegance among the rugged landscape. Griffin wore a classic black suit and opted out of a tie. I loved the simplicity of his look. I’d be lying though if I didn’t say my favorite element of Abby and Griffin’s elopement apparel was their hiking boots and Osprey hiking pack. But the fun didn’t stop with mountain bridal portraits!

Telluride Village Skiing Elopement

We all traveled a short distance to Mountain Village in Telluride for an afternoon on the slopes. And to answer your question, no Abby and Griffin didn’t change out of their elopement apparel! Chuck and I were bundled up in our snow gear while Abby and Griffin zipped down the runs in their full wedding apparel; talk about bad a$$. We couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon of snowboarding and skiing. The clouds cleared towards the end of the day to give way to blue skies and sunshine; it was absolutely perfect.

No Telluride elopement would’ve been complete without stopping at the Timber Room for cocktails though, amiright!? After a couple photos in their wedding apparel and snow gear, Abby and Griffin changed into cocktail attire for some risqué photos. I loved the moodiness of the dimly lit restaurant paired with Abby and Griffin’s fun outfits. It was the best way to cap their snowy mountain elopement in Telluride, Colorado.
