Loveland Pass, Colorado Sunrise Elopement
If you’re an avid reader of the Chuck & Shiloh blog or keep up with us on Instagram (@chuckandshiloh), you’ll know that we are big outdoor enthusiasts. With our sweet pup Hoka by our side, there’s no adventure we won’t take on. You can imagine just how stoked we were when Alex and Kayla’s Loveland Pass, Colorado sunrise elopement arrived. But let me tell you - we’ve never been humbled so quickly! Experiencing the serene mountain sunrise with a deeply in-love couple (and our heavy breathing as we trudged up the mountain) was just what the doctor had ordered.

Not to sound like an absolute cheese-ball, but photographing love stories is what sets my soul on fire. And having Chuck by my side to film those same love stories from a different perspective is such a joy to witness. Sharing your passions alongside your partner is unmatched, folks. Can you tell that Alex and Kayla’s chemistry had us in our feels!? When they sent in their initial inquiry, they had expressed that they were looking for an intimate experience that highlighted their authentic love and their love of the outdoors. Talk about a dream couple! While Chuck and I love helping couples with the elopement planning process, it’s always fun when they know exactly what they want.
When Alex and Kayla first searched for Colorado elopement locations, they stumbled upon Cupid Peak in the Loveland Pass. And what better way to experience Loveland Pass than at sunrise!? They were determined to hike up to the top to exchange vows and basked in the 360° views. While Chuck and I have crossed several treks off our bucket lists, it seems like nothing could’ve prepared us for the ascent to Cupid Peak. The hike was just a mile — easy, right? WRONG. That 1 mile was made up of a 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Which means: we were basically climbing straight up. Uff. But Alex and Kayla, who are avid outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy trail running, roasted us. I didn’t spot a singular sweat droplet, nor did I hear the faintest whisper of heavy breathing from either one of them. At least I was able to capture a few ballin’ pics of them hiking with just the morning blue sky as their backdrop (due to Chuck and my slow pace).

Once we made our way to the top of Cupid Peak, we were spoiled with pastel hues painted along the surrounding mountains. With Kayla in her cozy fur bridal jacket, her and Alex took in the views before exchanging heartfelt vows. As more daylight began to give way, the vibrant green valleys and tiny yellow flower came into focus — suddenly, I felt like I was transported to the Swiss Alps. After sealing their vows with a kiss, we hiked wandered around Cupid Peak until the warm golden sunshine warmed our faces. I couldn’t get over just how content Alex and Kayla were throughout the entire day — especially in those moments just after their private vow exchange. Chuck and I felt like two flies on the wall witnessing them twirling around, strolling hand-in-hand, and stealing kisses.
We then made our way to Loveland Pass Lake for elopement bridal portraits. The blue sky, vibrant greenery, and towering mountains reflecting off the crystal clear lake was breathtaking. After we snapped a few portraits and I picked my jaw back off the ground, Alex and Kayla laid out their picnic blanket to enjoy their little wedding cake. The rest of our time together was spent taking in the beautiful views and celebrating the Alex and Kayla’s lifelong commitment to one another.
