While I’m the first to admit that I get choked up pretty easily on a wedding day, Shaylyn and Josh’s day just hit differently. Documenting their summer greenhouse wedding in La Crosse, Wisconsin was truly such a joy. From the moody interior of the Bittersweet Greenhouse venue to the most beautiful golden hour in the bluffs, this day couldn’t have been more blissful. To say that I’ve been patiently waiting to share this wedding day would be an understatement - I’m stoked to finally bring this one to the blog.

Like I already established, I am a cryer. The bride had lost both of her parents, so the emotions of this wedding day were definitely bittersweet. What stood out most to me in going about this mid-summer wedding was just how much Josh’s family loved on Shaylyn. Shaylyn spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids before sharing such a special moment being zipped into her lace gown by Josh’s mom. It was in this moment that I knew I was in some serious trouble as I was already wiping tears from eyes. And then to make matters even more emotional, Shaylyn shared a first look with Josh’s dad. Literally, I feel far too fragile all this time later as I write this!

During Shaylyn and Josh’s first look, they had a moment to exchange private vows. I remember when I was first getting to know Shaylyn and Josh, they expressed that they are truly best friends. Witnessing the laughter and antics between the two throughout the day was perfect evidence of exactly that: they are truly best friends. After the first look and vow exchange, we took some moody bridal portraits indoors. Once we were finally ready to brave the humid summer’s air, we headed outdoors for bridal portraits in the shade. Shaylyn’s bright summery bridal bouquet complimented the lush greenery beautifully.

Shaylyn and Josh’s intimate outdoor wedding ceremony was such a perfect representation of them as a couple. After the “I do’s” were said, they celebrated back down the aisle before embracing their wedding party. The wedding party photos were some of my favorite moments of the day. You can tell so much from a couple’s wedding party, and what Shaylyn and Josh’s told me was that they are just so loved. It was a breeze snapping photos with this crew!

This dreamy summer greenhouse wedding in La Crosse, Wisconsin concluded with first dances, speeches, and droppin’ it low. Naturally, I wasn’t quite done tearing up as Shaylyn and her father-in-law shared a first dance. There wasn’t a dry eye in the (green)house! Photographing love stories like Shaylyn and Josh’s makes my job so easy. There’s just something so beautiful about documenting a couple that has withstood the test of time and life’s hardest moments.
