Romantic Chapel Wedding in Winona, Minnesota
Although we are frequently traveling throughout the US, capturing madly in love couples from coast-to coast, we absolutely love capturing couples in our old “neck of the woods”. So when Kara and Aaron reached out to us to photograph their romantic chapel wedding in Winona, Minnesota, we were stoked! They are one of the most intentional, in-love couples that we’ve had the honor to photograph. I know what you’re thinking, “you say this about all of your couples.” But here’s why: we have the best freaking couples ever.
Kara and Aaron met when they were going to college in Vermont. I love that their love story has taken them all over the country throughout their relationship. They’ve withstood the test of time, and couldn’t have picked a better place to tie the knot than in Minnesota. One of the most beautiful parts of their wedding day was actually realizing just how many people traveled to make it to Minnesota to celebrate with them. They had people fly in from 40 different states and 1 couple that traveled all the way from SCOTLAND! If that doesn’t speak volumes to how loved and loving this couple is, I don’t know what does.
But I’ve gotta say, the best part of Kara and Aaron’s wedding was that they opted to have a traditional “first look” as Kara walked up the aisle to marry her person. The love radiating off the two of them was a beautiful thing to witness. After their romantic chapel wedding at the Chapel of St. Mary’s, we headed up to the bluffs of Winona for some photos at Kara’s parents’ home. The views were stunning and made for the most picturesque backdrop for wedding portraits and wedding party photos. Rather than shying away from the “harsh” sunlight, we were able to work with it and create some magic!
Once we wrapped up portraits, we made the little drive down the river to La Crosse for Kara and Aaron’s reception at Celebrations on the River to get the party started! Every speech was so heartfelt, which once again solidified just how loved this couple truly is. Photographing Kara and Aaron’s romantic chapel wedding in Winona, Minnesota felt like coming home. They really just are the perfect example of what a dream couple is. Not just because their wedding itself was stunning, but because the love between them was undeniable. ‘Nuff said.
