Rainy Mountain Wedding at Pikes Peak Ranch
As lovely as it is to have blue skies and bright sunshine on your wedding day, there is something so incredibly romantic about an overcast sky with some showers. While most couples don’t necessarily envision being soaked from head to toe, there was no better couple to embrace it than Hailey and Andrew. Their rainy mountain wedding at Pikes Peak Ranch was the perfect example of making the most of a moment and going with the flow. Each guest in attendance couldn’t have been more thrilled to celebrate such a beautiful, joyful couple - even as they sat beneath umbrellas during a downpour. It’s impossible not to feel loved and cherished when you see the people that show up for you on your happiest day.
Back in January, I shared Hailey and Andrew’s cozy engagement session in Woodland Park, Colorado. Returning to the Woodland Park area for their dreamy mountain wedding day at Pikes Peak Ranch was a dream come true. Hailey and Andrew met while they were both college athletes at Drake University; Hailey was a rower, and Andrew was a linebacker on the football team. After bonding over their love of Jesus, traveling, and athletics, the rest is history. After you swoon over their incredible rainy mountain wedding day at Pikes Peak Ranch, visit Hailey and Andrew’s cozy engagement session blog.
RAINY MOUNTAIN WEDDING | Pikes Peak Ranch
Hailey and Andrew couldn’t have chosen a more picturesque place to say “I do”, surrounded by their friends and family. Their morning began with the gals getting ready, while the boys played pool in the groom’s den. I always love to see just how different those moments are on a wedding day between the gals and guys. Once everyone was ready, Hailey and Andrew shared their first look overlooking the Rocky Mountains. The chemistry between these two is something that I instantly fell in love with when I first met them, so it came as no surprise just how magnetic they were on their wedding day. After some romantics overlooking the golden Aspens in the valleys below, we had a blast taking bridal party portraits. They had the most supportive crew, who kept the energy high the entire time.
Just as we wrapped up with the bridal party and family formals, the skies seemingly opened up above, right over the ceremony space. As guests made their way to their seats, they smooshed under umbrellas with smiles on their faces. It takes a really special couple for the rain not to cause grumbles throughout a crowd, and I didn’t hear a single one! As Hailey walked down the aisle arm-in-arm with her dad, Andrew couldn’t take his eyes off here. The rain picked up even more throughout the wedding ceremony, but Hailey and Andrew had the biggest smiles on their faces throughout each moment. Once they were officially pronounced ‘husband and wife’, guests made their way into the reception space while the bridal party gave big hugs to the newlyweds in the pouring rain.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR A RAINY WEDDING DAY
Inside, guests were greeted by long banquet tables and pampas grass centerpieces. Each table setting was unique, from the colored plate to the glass, complete with a custom tag. As guests dried off inside and began mingling, the rain subsided just long enough for Chuck and I to snag the newlyweds for some bridal portraits. Remember those dreamy golden Aspens we spotted during Hailey and Andrew’s first look? We took a short little stroll down to those golden trees and were blown away by just how lucky we were to catch the last bits of Fall foliage clinging for dear life. It was the perfect way to end the day before heading back inside to get the party started.
Back inside, the newlyweds cut their cake before the dances began. After the formal dances were wrapped up, guests wasted no time breaking it down. It normally takes guests awhile to ‘warm up’ the dance floor, but not this crew! Young and old packed the dance floor to celebrate Hailey and Andrew’s union. And it was truly the most perfect way to end their rainy mountain wedding at Pikes Peak Ranch.
COLORADO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | CHUCK & SHILOH PHOTO AND FILM
Celebrating alongside Hailey, Andrew, and their closest people was such a joy. I will forever be emotional about just how lucky Chuck and I are to document the most special days of a couple’s love story. From proposals to wedding days, maternity sessions to newborn lifestyle sessions… I couldn’t ask for a better job. If you want to be just as emotional as I am, be sure to peruse the blog. You will likely find each post ending with me getting emotional, but I have no shame in my game! Although, I promise I’m pretty rad over on the ‘Gram (gotta save the emotions for the OG fans here on the blog 😉). Give us a follow @chuckandshiloh to keep up with our adventures — and to see what Hoka has been up to! ’Til next time!
